Auxilary Reverse Lights

Hi folks, a long time ago, I used to see those small rectangle shaped fog lights that you could mount on your bumper. I can't see to find them anymore but basically what I want to do is add some aux. reverse lights on my rear bumper to aid when I backup, especially when I am trailering.

There was a really cool system I found on Amazon that would mount to the receiver and had a light on both sides, but it would not fit due to how the Ford hitch was designed where the security cables connect.

All other lights I find are very large and don't seem to have a way to mount easily to the bumper .

Anyone out there have a good solution? Pics? Source?

I replaced my backup lights with LEDs. Helped a little but still not enough light. So I got the AutoZone two LED set (about a 4” width light) and mounted them to the ends of the hitch frame. I turned them about 10* outward. The amount of light is great, especially at a boat ramp at night.

Back in the day we used to just use those aftermarket fog lights you could buy. I have leds in my reverse lights now and it made a big difference, also have a camera which makes a difference also.

I too upgrade the reverse lights with LED's but not enough as well as your experience. I like the idea of making a bracket to mount on the ends of the hitch. Hadn't thought about that before but looks like a really good idea.

Exactly, those aftermarket lights I used to see on the Walmart shelf or in autoparts stores some years back seems they would what I am looking for, but can't find them online. Not ready to run around in the stores just yet looking.

I did find some Blazer LED's from Autozone. No dimensions on their site, but they look sleek enough and come with the mounting bracket. Not sure how bright they are either....

Look for a cheap set of lights from northerntool or tractor supply company. Both are local to you.

I use these on one of our smaller tractors. Ironton Mini LED Work Lights — 2-Pk. 1050 Lumens, 5 LEDs | Northern Tool

I replaced my reverse lights with some LEDs as well. I made sure I got the ones with the projector on the end of the light to try and help it shine backwards better. In the pic you can see the difference. Left is LED, right is old incandescent. It is much more pronounced when it is actually dark out. I am also thinking about adding this since I live out on a pretty dark country road. VLED Reverse Light

That LED Bar light is pretty cool, but I think the light will get a lot of blocking from the trailer hitch and frame. I think it would work better if I can get some lights mounted lower, at least under the bumper and further out towards the ends as much as possible, so it will shine on the road under the trailer.

The light bar would work pretty well without a trailer attached, but with a trailer it wouldn't be very helpful

You looking for these old school style lights? https://www.harborfreight.com/clear-...hts-37349.html
Note these are a plastic body and glass lenses. I had some on an old Honda Accord and they held up well through a few Wisconsin winters.

Scroll to the last row. Same style as on my 7.3 but different brand.
This brand was on the V-10 I just sold which provided good light output.
Scroll to bottom of the product page to see the bumper ones.
