Just to bring what this means into perspective, I have listed some statistics as of this morning...

1987 - 1996 F150 & Larger - 124,277 threads and 1.04M posts
1999 - 2016 Super Duty - 122,251 threads and 1.13M posts
1999 - 2003 7.3L PSD - 100,001 threads and 1.31M posts

Out of 92 (yes, 92) sub-forums, we are third for thread count and first for post count.

The 7.3L dinosaur lives and is strong!

And I would venture to say quite a few threads in the superduty sub should be in here.

One does wonder how many of those 100k threads are oil discussions

I’m surprised the 6.0 forum doesn’t have us beat. There’s a lot to cover under the hood of those

Now that was funny! Yet another consideration for the best post of 2021, so soon into the year.

At least 2 Triax and one "best oil" on the first page right now as I type this.

They give up too easy and sell or burn it.

The things that really stands out for me are;
1..The tolerance, if someone asks a question that comes up frequently, let's say "what oil?" There's no bad mouthing or slagging off the OP's mother.
2...The advice, unlike other 7 tree resources, the advice is generally spot on, often with back up references.
3...The community, I've come to get to know quite a few members here, you know who you are.... but it all feels like one big happy family (well most of the time anyway)
4....Everyone seems to know when to STFU, if you don't know the answer, don't give bad advice. Unlike the morons that hang out in other places, sometimes the advice I've seen there has been downright dangerous or potentially expensive if followed.

@ToolmakerRob , I owe you the first round when we finally do get a chance to put a face with the name! I may have inadvertently grouped 6.0L owners together. Kind of like we have the FTE'rs that have PSD's and then we have the FaceBook community that has PSD's... Completely different species in my opinion. Emojis, ya brah and high fives run rampant on FB where here we are more detailed, refined (usually) and of a DIY mindset instead of smash it, burn it or sell it as a first action taken.
Again Rob, I owe you a drink of your choice when we shake hands, alcoholic or not, your choice!

@Sous _Don't worry, the 6.0 comments were all taken in a humorous stride and no harm done. I work in a machine shop with 60 other Toolmakers and we can jest each other HUGE so I have thick skin.

Mine has not been driven lately as it needs a bunch of work and updating such as, ball joints, better springs, air compressor, aux lights, body work etc. This one is a keeper but I see how the 7.3s work for the other FTEers here and my son's 1997 7.3 and it does make me jealous at times.Trust me, there is some truth to the 6.0 engine being a problem child. I know most people don't know all the ins&outs of the 6.0 and they can be a strong motor when the issues are dealt with. I have done my head gaskets once already and have been keeping an eye on my coolant pressure and have watched it slowly climb higher while driving over the last year. I REALLY do hope that the HGs are not compromised AGAIN. It could be something small but when that little brain of mine is whirring in the background thinking about this I often wonder if I should do a Jason swap and replace it with a 7.3 PSD.
I need to do some more troubleshooting first.

All the FTE forums have a great community spirit and usually try to assist each other when issues do arise. That is why I (and everyone else keep returning). I do not even look at Facebook sites as there is too much BS. My upbringing and mantra in life has been to help people and I have had a lot of help in return. The old saying of what goes around comes around is very true.

We can argue who does the first round when I do finally get down there to one of the meet&greets.

Rob
