Shutter when accelerating

I have a 2008 super crew 4x4 5.4L, 95,000miles
when I accelerate from a stop occasionally the truck shutters. It first happened while I was pulling a trailer and I thought it was a sticking brake on the trailer but it does it without also. There is no check engine light on. I can't figure out how to make it happen when I want so if I take it to the shop it probably won't happen while it's there. It happens 2 to 3 starts in a row then it can go away for 20 starts nothing consistent. Any ideas what to look for? TIA

Maybe the timing chain is getting some slack in it? Or the phasers are having problems.

It runs fine 99%of the time, just shakes on acceleration occasionally if it was a timing chain issue don't you think it would have a more constant problem?

When it gets worse it will be a constant problem. Tritons are very known for having timing issues.

Some suggestions; check your transmission mount and engine mounts as well. check for missing leaf spring nylon spacers. Engine misfires {sparkplug age}. PTFE lube the driveshaft to transfer case slip yoke.

Typical misfire ,we see it all the time on here . Ford has the count set high to avoid setting a code .happens over 45-55 when trans has shifted to high gear and its lugging . Or climb a hill usually in high gear . You can see the raw computer counts on mode six per cly .
Indicates you need new plugs ,new boots and spring and clean cop contacts good .
Guys have even changed transmissions for this problem . It usually is described as a shudder but if you want it to shutter like a camera lens thats ok too . Ha !
.Don't let it keep doing it or try to make it set a code that's real hard on cats Don't fail to put new boots on ,clean scape high volts tab on cop then use contact cleaner . clean those wells out and do a hospital clean job . Oil, antifreeze ,heat ,gas all damage boots . Use some carb cleaner to clean out snout area of plug in cylinder it will dissolve that carbon that breaks plugs . If oil or something leaking into wells you are going to have trouble.
Ford now wants plugs changed before 60k .If this is first time for plug change get a lisle plug extractor on hand first .
