when im on the highway doin about 60-65 my explorer starts to viberate and shake alot. I have no idea what is causing this, i have 2 ideas 1 the tires and 2 the shocks. I going to replace the tires soon, but i want to know what the best shocks to get are. I want it to ride like my moms EB Expedition and that rides really nice.
Sorry to hear about the vibration. It could be any number of things. 1. May be the tires: broken steel belt, poor wear, out of balance wheel, out of round tire, flat spot on tire. 2. May be your ball joints. 3. May be a loose tie rod end or drag link end. 4. May be a bad bearing or worn spindle. Lots of possibilities, but I'd start with the cheapest, balance the tires and have the tech inspect them for broken belts or deformities.
As for your shocks, it is kinda up to you to decide and how you will use the vehicle. I have used Monroe Sensa-trac for around towning and light towing and they lasted about 3 years and gave an good ride. They are fairly inexpensive and you can put them on yourself. Your mom's EB Expy may have LLS in which case you won't be able to replicate that feel with normal shocks. If you like a stiffer ride and have a few $$$, try the Bilsteins. They are firm and last very well. The Edelbrocks are good also.
