Just picked up my new f450 with the console safe. What is available for storage for things such as change, pens, etc? The storage tray that comes with it doesn't look like it fits at all with the safe.
I don't think it fits either. I test drove a KR450 earlier this week that had the console safe and had the same questions regarding storage of small items.
I have the safe and use the factory tray for pens, change and such. But, it’s inside the safe, sitting on the bottom. I modified the tray to sit on top, over the locking mechanism, but found it wasn’t convenient in the long run.
I've been happy with my E&G Console vault that only takes up half of the console and still allows use of the factory tray on the unused side. I have one in my F350 and in my Expedition. Photos below are from my 2018 Expedition.
Looks like this safe might have been a better option. But now having the Ford safe, I'm just looking for something to sit on top, not move, gold change, some extras, etc. I can't find anything online that fits what I'm looking for. Might have to improvise

I have the Ford console safe as it was part of the deal when I got my truck. I had added the divider system, but still need to figure out change and other small stuff. I read a post on one of the forums that a member used a small container sitting in one if the sections for change. For now I have just added a magnet mount and holster for short term storage when I go somewhere that I have to leave my sidearm in the truck and secure - kids' school, grandparents retirement home, on base, etc. I do prefer the function of the safe that only uses half the console and may end up swapping them out one if these days.
