Has anyone used an inline additional transmission filter? If so what brand would you recommend? I've had horrible luck when it comes to replacement transmissions, I'm on # 5 first 4 were warranty replacements but # 5 didn't. I'm trying to do what I can to help it last longer.
Back in the 2000's we always used magnafine inline filters on service repairs. Now we are instructed to replace all components during a transmission replacement including radiator, aux cooler and lines.
Do you know what the failure cause was on the first and previous transmissions? With 4 warranty replacements either the business doesn't actually do proper rebuilds or they haven't reinstalled correctly. If there was lube failure issues, the trans cooler may not have been flushed or can't get the contamination out which would require the rad/trans cooler and possibly cooler lines to be changed. Were the cooler lines connected in proper direction? Did they change the torque convertor with every rebuild as the torque convertor could be full of contamination from a previous trans hard parts failure. The stock system is perfectly capable of keeping the trans running fine, there is something else causing your issue. A clutch worn out issue is a pretty easy R&R but a hard part failure can leave lots of metal fragments through out the system and restrict fluid flow anywhere.
At the time I had them replaced I was traveling border to border and coast to coast for work so against my better judgement I took it to Aamco because there is one in about every town or close to it. Didn't want to get stranded by going to just a local shop. Anyway back to your question, what they out in was what they called a GPS unit and it came from a company in Michigan I believe. Turns out the unit were really made for the Lincoln's and not so much F 150's due to the soft shifting which confused the computer in my truck. I didn't watch them out them in because it took them awhile to get them. 4 different shops in 3 states had my truck for over 6 calenders weeks. Called Aamco corporate and was basically told to sue them that they were even going to try to make things right. The 5th one I had out in last July so let's hope this one last.
