I am on my fourth windshield since buying my ‘19 Lariat F250 in Sept. 2019. Did OEM glass first replacement for under $500. I went through a small town local glass shop as I was there on a job site for the second one and got a cheap non-OEM replacement for $210. Mistake; it leaked badly, but not necessarily the glass’s fault as it was the shop’s poor workmanship in not ensuring a good seal. Replaced that with a carlite OEM for $450 out the door.
I don’t have glass coverage. Or rather, out of pocket is cheaper than my deductible. I don’t have rain sensors or any of that. Just the “sound screen” acoustic inter layer.
the OEM glass has the Ford logo, but not my Kentucky truck plant sticker.

Reason: Clarify
Insurance doesn't cover glass in MS. I'm on windshield number 3 on my 18 and need #4. Local glass shop. Carlite makes the Ford logo'd one and the same glass without the logo. $400 or $225. I went with the $225. Logo not that important to me especially considering how these things are rock magnets. Ford dealership outsources to local glass company.
Avoided windshield damage this last time though. Only $120 to replace.
When my 07 F-150 windshield was chipped/cracked (right between my eyes, don't that figure?) I got a Ford OEM replacement at a local independent glass shop. A little bit of hassle because I had to buy the glass and then wait for it to arrive and go back for an install. Cheaper than dealer or Safelite.
As I recall under $400. paid out of pocket. They even moved my airline parking lot sticker.
This is not necessarily correct. My insurance company specifically states that the replacement windshield is supposed to be of " like " quality. It really depends upon the shop you take it to. The person replacing the windshield has to state that they are having a problem with the "off brand windshield" to get insurance to pay the upgrade for the "original".
I had them show me in the "fine print", after calling to fight for an original.
Lol......Sounds like your insurance company has issues.

Who is your insurance with in MS?
My Stare Farm covers windshields.

Do you live in Mississippi? I’ll confirm with my State Farm agent who is a friend of mine. Things may have changed with them in the last 4 years since I used them.
I have Allstate currently and I asked my agent about it when I had to replace my first windshield at 1800 miles.
I have had State Farm, Farm Bureau, Progressive, Allstate, Liberty Mutual.
I shop it annually along with our house to keep my rates in check otherwise they will balloon stupidly.
None have offered a glass policy separate of collision or comprehensive.
Why does the Kentucky Plant sticker matter ?
Is this a big deal ? I scraped mine off the 1st week.
I've had few replacements on my old truck, safetlite was good and my insurance sent me there to replace free, it's on my insurance.
Has nothing to do with the Kentucky plant sticker. You don't get that with either OEM or aftermarket. Its the lettering at the top of the glass that says "FORD" or "SUPER DUTY" (sorry, can't remember at the moment which one). The aftermarket wont have it, aside from overall quality that lettering matters to some.

I think the super duty lettering on the windshield ended with the 17 year models. I know my 18 didn’t have it but it did have the Kentucky plant sticker on it. I was kind of sad to see it go as well. Kind of like a made in USA or something.

Dang, I didn't realize that, so lettering is a non issue then. I remember that being the difference on a 2015 I had been qouted for, plus a couple hundreds bucks. So far my 19 hasn't needed a replacement. I'm not sure why I thought it at least said "FORD".

Mine had a tiny Ford logo bottom center of the windshield. That wasn’t worth an extra $200 for me knowing it was likely to be broken soon. 🤦🏻♂️

I'm going to agree that was kind of lucky too. It just missed the paint on the back hood edge and scraped on the plastic then impacted on the same piece, better than skipping on your hood. I had a piece of some ones leaf spring thrown up in front of me by the vehicle in front and it put the smallest 1" mark on the black plastic mirror housing.
Wonder if the object and header piece are in there

I didn’t find anything even when we removed the cowl to replace it. Guess whatever it was either fell through the engine bay or over the cab.
