P0267 & P0269 Codes

I have a 2004.5 Ford F350 King Ranch 6.0 diesel with 90K miles on the ODO. Truck was taken on trade in with leaks from every place known to man. Ran like crap. When I was looking at the engine I noticed a REMAN ENGINE Sticker. Wow, how nice was that?

Original Statistics:
ICP at 360psi, IPR at 15% FICM at 59%. (Yeah the FICM was really weird). Boost at 23%. Would not start hot and ran like crap when I finally did get it started.

Everything on the top side of the engine was replaced.
1) Refurbished FICM
2) New Ford OEM Oil Cooler, screen
3) New Ford OEM EGR Cooler
4) New Ford OEM HPOP O'ring and gasket kit
5) New Ford OEM GPM wire harness
6) New Ford OEM Glow plugs
7) New Ford Valve Cover gaskets
8) New Blue Hose for EGR Cooler
9) New Ford OEM Valve cover bolts and studs
10) New Ford OEM ICP
11) Nee Ford OEM EGR
12) New HHC nipple cup O'rings
13) New Bostech Injector O'rings and copper washers
14) New Ford OEM upper and lower oil pan gasket

15) New Ford OEM IPR Screen and gasket kit

16) New Ford OEM turbo unison ring. Separated turbo and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned. Also used Anti Seize on Unison ring and fingers. (I call them fingers)

All back together and out for a test ride. As soon as I got to 55-60mph in overdrive I started to get a bad SHUDDER and loss of power. Back to the shop. Scan Gauge put on and found P0267 and P0269. Both codes led to Injector #3 failure on Passenger side. Removed PS valve cover and oil rail. Pulled #3 Injector and ordered remanufactured injector from Pensacola Injector for $139.00. (These guys are awesome). Installed remaned injector and started up. Immediate noticeable power, smooth idle and NO SHUDDER at 55-60mph.

New Stats: FICM 47.5 to 48.5, ICP at 583 (warm idle), ICP at 22% to 26% (warm idle)

Today - I have ZERO leaks and the truck is running awesome

When I did the PS side I pulled the inner fender liner. It may take a little more time but it opens up everything for easy access. Most important tools were a Milwaukee M12 ¼” extended battery ratchet, HHC nipple cup socket, IPR socket, Torque wrenches and a lot of clean oil to lubricate the O’rings.

So if you are getting a contribution balance code on one of your cylinders, most likely the injector is bad. Mine was injector #3

If you have any questions, email me. I’m glad to help out.
Good luck, just take your time

From what I have seen, the reliability of injectors from Pensacola Diesel leaves a lot to be desired, but glad you got it running well.

Thanks for the follow up. Much appreciated.

We are all at the mercy of our suppliers. It can and it does get frustrating at times, especially when the vehicle is down for a while. I purchased from them since they are local. The owner even stopped by my shop to retrieve the Core Injector. It gave me a chance to talk to him F2F

I have seen quite a few sellers that are extremely genuine at customer support, but sell a "marginal" product. Just an individual perspective, YMMV.

I understand completely. We have all been there. For what it's worth, I try to purchase Ford OEM parts. They may be a little more expensive, but it is not AFTERMARKET. There are credible aftermarket suppliers from which I will buy certain items, but when I get into O'rings, gaskets, ICP, IPR, oil coolers I usually stick to Ford. I had just bought some injector O'rings from a reputable aftermarket shop only to find that the black O'ring for the middle of the injector was very very sloppy. At the point where I know I would have had problems if I tried to install it. Another good thing is that I will not rush a job. As much as you want to get it done, and it can be very frustrating to be right in the middle of something and find out you have a new $.10 part that is incorrect.....UGH!
