I bought the SPE cold side pipe during their Black Friday sale and just got around to putting it on yesterday. I had a question about the air sensor installation. I noticed, on the stock throttle body adapter, the sensor is perpendicular to the flow of air, which seems ideal for the sensor. On the SPE, the sensor is not clocked the same way, it’s about degrees off from the flow of air. Is this common, or a mis-made part?
Factory vs SPE, you can see how the tabs are clocked differently.
Didi you install the sensor in both pipes and compare how the sensor sits in the air stream? The SPE might possibly have the "stop" clocked in a different location.

yeah, that’s specifically what i’m asking about, the SPE throttle body holds the sensor about 45 degrees ‘off’ from the stock one. So it shifts from perpendicular to 45 degrees off of the air flow.

I did that as well, they’re closed for the weekend though so I was hoping to see if anyone else noticed something. If I need to put it back to stock, I want to do it before the weekend is over and it turns back to daily driving duty.

Well, crappo. That sux! But I suppose they are like everyone else and likes a day off occasionally.
I guess if it isn’t too big of a chore, I might just go ahead and put it together and try it; see what happens.
What can possibly go wrong??!! LOL, just kidding.
Worst case you might have to put it back to stock.
Best of luck.

that’s the current action plan. I’ll take it for a drive, see what happens and put it back to stock if I need to. If it needs to go back to stock, i’ll see if I can use the stock throttle body adapter and the SPE hose, save some work at least.
SPE actually responded to my email today even though they are closed until Monday. They said, no worries, it will be fine. I ran the truck for a while today, no issues, it runs well and no codes or check engine lights. Thumbs up to SPE customer service, I didn’t expect to hear from them until Monday at the earliest.
