I have a 97 F-150 4.2L. I heard that the 3.8L parts will fit my truck. I found other superchargers on ebay and would like to know if any of them would fit. One off of a 90 Thunderbird SC Eaton supercharger for a 3.8, 89 Thunderbird Super Coupe 3.8, 94 Thunderbird, 90s Thunderbird 3.8, and a 89-92 Thunderbird Super Coupe. Will any of them work??
All I know is that the 97 and up Mustang 3.8's are the same as our engines. Just about anything off that engine will fit ours. I don't know about all those other cars.
You will only get 80-100 HP from that kit. True, the kit costs 3299, but I know of a shop down in Texas that knows a ton about the issue. I have been talking with Derek from Trixters. He is willing to do a group buy, I just need to get him info. If anyone is interested in it, but only very serious, let me know. I am planning on buying, just waiting on some final details, ie shipping and upgrades. I dont have a final price, but he guarantees lowest price. Any how, if anyones still interested, contacted me.
oh, my opologies. I could have sworn i saw someplace where it said 150 horsepower. perhaps it was a supercharger for the v8.
mmmm, 80 horses for that kind of money then...kind of expensive. I'll just drop the 75 shot jets in the nitrous after i put my new tires on. it would be worthless to do it now cause i'd just sit and spin. and although blowing huge white puffs of smoke is cool, it does nothing for my quarter times.
best of luck with the kit though. keep us posted as to when your getting it. I would love to see some before/during/after pictures. you want to take as many pictures of your truck as you can while its growing up, because once it does you'll wish you had those pic's.

It may only add 80 horses overall, but what does it do to the torque curve? A supercharger can add a lot of low-end torque and still only add a small percentage to the overall HP.
I am not completely sure on the TQ question. The thing is, although the kits are supplied, not many people have done it, or dyno'ed and reported back. So I could give you estimated numbers, of what should happen mathematically, but I would rather say, with this set-up, expect this. Know what I mean? I am hoping, with my set-up and an intercooled Vortech, 3-core, and a diablo chip, I will be flyin. The other thing is, the specs I found on the original kit are out of date. There have been several modifications to the original, and even then, their data is totally different from mine. They had a stock 4.2 rcsb, auto, with 3.08 gears. Im a 5-spd with all the garbage I list in my signature
I will hopefully have some news about all the specs tomorrow when I talk with Derek again. If anyone is still interested, please contact me soon so I can let him know there is more interest than just me.
Anyone think I could break 15.5 with all that? Or what do you think to be comparable time? Silly question I know, but still worth asking.
Do these things come with warrenty's? I don't believe they do. I'm not sure how reliable these garage assembled kits are. Especially as you put it that there aren't alot of statistics out there and not too many people who have done this mod.
Please do your due diligence prior to this purchase.
I have been....The place I am going through DOES offer a warranty included in the purchase. There are rights and a bunch of other things, patents and stuff. I feel confident in these guys, but with anyone else whos offering it. Getting those pics taken as we speak!
Hey lets face it. Some days you just don't feel like working, ya know.
I served 3 years in the army and 2 in reserves (this is over 10 years ago), and there were days I blew off duty to go sit under a tree for the day........we are, after all, only human.
