Press the power door lock LOCK button once to enter the command.

Racerguy:
My 94 cougar XR7 had the locking door feature and i liked it. Got rid of the 94 and i now have a 96 XR7 which DOES NOT auto-lock the doors when in gear.
The dealer said that this feature was no longer used on the 96's.
After reading your post i have to ask: Was he right or was it never activated from the factory to begin with? And can it be if it wasn't.

The manual doesn't show anything about autolocks on your car so I dont think it has them. I havent worked on a T-Bird/Cougar in a while so I dont remember off hand.

I had the same thing and it drove me crazy!!!
I stopped by the local Ford dealer and asked them about it, and they took a portable computer out to the truck, hooked up to it and had the auto-lock disabled in about 5 minutes. I palmed the guy 10 bucks for his time.
Good luck!
