ebrake, upper cable replacement??
ok, well the upper end of the cable snaps into the ebrake assy, the cable threads through the floor, inside the fender. I got that far. I dug the end of my intermediate cable out of hiding above the frame rail. I have a ball on each cable end, so I must need a link to connect them.
My new assy had a .125" pin, loosely installed through the brake pedal arm, preventing it from being pushed down. I removed this pin, and something that sounds ominously like my flat spring went kachank! Now the pedal moves, but has no return spring action...? wth?

Are you looking for how the upper cable connects to the pedal assembly?
I'm confused about this pin I removed and why my spring does not return the pedal to the up position?

If you are referring to connecting the upper cable to the intermediate cable, I can get a picture for you tomorrow when the sun is up.
If you are referring to where the stopper at the top of the upper cable locks into the pedal assembly, I can look in the service manual or get a picture for you tomorrow when the sun comes up.
Let us know, and I apologize for not understanding the questions.

I can't see the difference in the two pics above btw. Can you circle what's missing? It's a little like

Thanks Leonard, it is some help. I am not tech savvy enough to figure out how to mark this pic, other than print it, mark the print, scan it and repost it. Is there an easier way to edit the photo? The pin I removed is #2 in your pics, where they tell me to insert a suitable retainer, after I pull the forward cable and conduit. the pin is halfway between the pivot point and the switch.
Sous, a pic is worth a thousand words. I'd love to see where and how the actuator cable connects to the intermediate cable, under the truck. One of the inconveniences of island living is the lack of junk yards, auto dealers, and parts stores. Everything I need is either order and wait, or build it myself. I've gotten better at fabricating parts since I moved out here.
Intermediate and upper cable union and upper cable routing.
Another shot of upper cable leaving cab.
Another shot of upper cable routing to head toward rear of truck and intermediate cable.
Upper and intermediate cable union, sorry it is blurry a rock stabbed my head...
I do have one more question, I got on the service manual thread recently and received the manual. However, when I want to use it, seems I need to reinstall it each time. I am obviously technology challenged over here. Can someone instruct me how to burn this to a cd or dvd so I can shove it in the cup holder when I want to view it?

As for the FSM, you are the first and only person I have seen report this back to me. Perhaps there is a step that was skipped in the instructions?
You can burn the .ISO file to a DVD if you like, simply Google "how to burn ISO to DVD" and check out a few videos and go from there. I suspect that when you first installed it, the virtual drive letter was assigned, maybe "D" or "E" and when you are going to use it now, the wrong drive letter is being selected when "mounting" the ISO via Windows 7 freeware or Windows 10 native capability. I am more than willing to help you to try and figure this out if you like. Shoot me a PM if you want to try and figure it out and we can go from there. Otherwise I will assume you have burned the FSM to a DVD and are good to go.
Almost 70 FTE'rs have downloaded and installed the FSM with no reports of what you are seeing, but I don't give up easily, not even on the "technology challenged". If worst comes to worst, I can burn it to DVD and mail it to you.
@Sous , I think what he means is he needs to remount the ISO each time the computer has been rebooted. I have to do that with mine too.
You are also correct, once the PC has been restarted Windows 10 and Windows 7 typically needs to remount the .iso file. This is based on a virtual drive that doesn't truly exist. It is possible to setup up a script or batch file process to remount the .iso automatically, but this is well beyond what the normal user requires.
No matter, he is good to go!
