Ever since new I have noticed that my truck will demonstrate burst of uncommanded acceleration. At first it seemed to be random but since I have put over 4000 miles on it so far, I have noticed some repeatable situations where this happens:
Typically it will do it when starting a drive after the truck has been shut down.
Usually it will happen within the first mile.
It appears to happen when the truck is moving but basically coasting and idling and the transmission switches from 2nd to 3rd gear.
It appears to be related to distance traveled since start because it does it almost in the exact same spot as I leave my neighborhood no matter how long the engine has been running since startup.
These burst happen even with foot completely off the throttle and with foot on the brake.
It does not appear to be a throttle pedal sensor position issue as it is repeatable and sort of predictable and does not do it after some distance has been traveled.
I am setting up a trend with Forescan and hope to capture it doing this on a trend. I will post the results.
The dealer claimed it was normal and that it would go away after the self learning was complete. Obviously it has not.
Does the throttle hang at 1200 rpm? My 20 does this also especially when trying to go slow through a parking lot. The TPS% commanded goes up and so does the fueling according to what I have logged. This also occurs while the truck is not in passive or active regen.

I did actually notice this behavior as well as late as today. I was idling thru a parking lot and after the usual burst of uncommanded power that I reference above, it was normal for a few hundred feet then it acted like it was in high idle running about 1200 rpm. My passenger even commented about it wondering why it was doing that.
My 19 Jeep does the same thing when pulling into a parking spot, the dealer states they cannot duplicate the problem and it may have something to do with the "aftermarket" wiring... You know to the winch, not sure how that could be an issue, all I know is if they dont fix it soon I'm going to allow them to buy it back for what I paid for it new.
Brantel, mine does EXACTLY the same thing yours does. The uncommanded acceleration between 2nd and 3rd gear is infuriating/dangerous! (I cant let ANYONE else drive my truck now) The throttle not coming back to idle as you HOPE it slows down is a nuisance 1200 RPM in the new 600. I am curious as to if you EVER see this after the first time or are you still thinking it's a distance thing? Mine will do it repeatedly. Although the first time it is always a shock how hard it throttles up from 2nd to 3rd. I first noticed it around 8000 miles and now I've moved and it seems to be worse all of the time. The dealer changed the valve on the transmission and deleted the learned memory and its just as bad as it ever was and getting worse every day. I'm at a loss. I will get it to the dealer next week and turn over the keys until they get it fixed...Very unnerving.

Mine has done this since day one. It currently has 5100 miles on it. For mine, the issue goes away after being driven for a bit. I suspect it is temp related somehow but don't know for sure because it will do it when the ambient temp is 90 deg or 25 deg.
I agree and don't let others drive my truck either without warning them about what it does.
The other day I got a dirty look from someone in a parking lot as I was driving through while they were walking and my truck did this. They assumed it was me being reckless but it was the truck. If someone gets injured as a result of this issue, it will be difficult to impossible to prove it was the truck and not the driver. I always keep my foot on the brake in tight situations because of this issue just in case.
I believe its a fly by wire problem. Every ford ive owned does this. My 2012 6.2 did it real bad even with it tuned. My current 2019 6.7 does it occasionally. I wonder if a pedal commander or banks would clean it up. Now the worst vehicle ive had it happen in was a 2500 chevy with the 6.0. I would be coming up to stop signs and it would start accelerating then Id hit the brakes setting off the abs. Took it to dealer and response I get is ya they do that sometimes.
Thank you desert Don I will complain there. If I put my truck into neutral everything goes back to normal as The throttle goes. I am taking my truck back to the dealership this coming week. I will have a second vehicle which is actually another Ford truck so I can leave this with them until they figure it out. The truck does me no good as it is. I now Collett Christine because it has a mind of its own. It’s dangerous and I can’t believe if there Are more people with this problem, it hasn’t been fixed. Makes no sense to me on a vehicle that is so widely manufactured and sold. I’m in the airplane business and some thing like this would shut down the entire fleet. Can you say 737 max? I have an email response from someone at Ford at this point and I have not heard back on any ideas or plans to rectify the problem. One noticeable thing since my first post is that the erratic behavior of the throttle is happening more and more and not just at shift points. Yes the shifting of 1st to 2nd and definitely 2nd to 3rd the throttle really increases. Now even When the truck is stopped the throttle will come up to 1000 RPM instead of the normal idle RPM.
This is not a throttle by wire issue at least not on mine. I have trended the throttle command variable and it is a steady flat line when this happens. This issue is some other programming that causes it.
