On a '53, the original brake peddle was mounted to the frame, I think? My peddle is mounted that way to a booster. That all works. How is the peddle kept on the shaft of the mount. Seems like I could just slide mine off the mounting shaft as there are no fastening spots to keep the peddle in place.
The clutch pedal assembly keeps the brake pedal secured in its proper location. I may have a ford O-Matic truck here that has the dummy shaft in it to hold the brake pedal in place
This is a pic of what I have. This may help. I don't have a clutch anymore. The finger points to the mount in question.
This pic shows the pedal arm, the bushing and grease nipple. I have pulled it out slightly from the frame mount.
Thanks guys for the help. In doing some looking around the garage today I found this. I will cut off the clutch arm and use the shaft and the clutch part that attaches to the shaft. From there I will get a new washer and bolt for the other end. Success in my head anyway.
