While the interior is stripped, clean and freshly painted I want to apply sound dampening and insulation to the inside surface of the firewall. Looking at it I don't expect all those holes (mostly small screw holes) are going to be used during reassembly. When I bought the truck the cab was stripped. I'm thinking just go over everything with the peel & stick on the inside then use whatever holes are needed. Plug the remaining holes from the outside either with plastic/rubber plugs or stainless button head screws. What have you guys done?
Thanks
Bob
On my F1 I filled the 96 holes and ground the welds for weeks and weeks. NEVER AGAIN !
If my '56 has as many holes I am going to make a sheet metal plate to cover the outside of the firewall and then peel & stick on the inside.
Most of those little holes are for the things that hold the firewall pad in place. I used an ABS firewall pad with insulation. The holders that push into the holes came with the pad.

are you doing a restoration or driver or what? Mine I filled a lot of holes PO had moved the battery mount to the firewall ect but I used a stock firewall cover and was able to use a lot of those holes that I didn’t fill I guess what I am saying is to plan what for what you are going to do AC battery location speedo cable
firewall brake ac elect penetration
under the ac penetration is the hole for the computer harness
I filled all mine and then later redrilled what I wanted where I wanted. The only one I should have left was the heater hole as the AC goes through that hole. So I needed to figure out where it was and cut it again.
The filling & grinding train has left the station on my project. Abe, I forgot about the holes for the inside pad. Will need them.
Thanks for the replies.
