Working on the van is tight. Im up grading to the kc balanced wheel, adding guages, using the ssj ebpv delete. As well as some maintenance and pm while im in there.
I finished the passenger side glow plugs last night. The van is a bit different. The passenger valve cover slides up and out instead of rotating down like the trucks. I planned to leave the aih solenoid even tho the aih and wiring to it are gone. But i decided to trim down the gpcm bracket removing the aih solenoid altogether. This will give me easier access to the fuel bowl later if needed. The fuel bowl is in no mans land in the van. Anyway i just plan to use wire nuts and tape to cap the wires coming off the main harness. Has anyone had any problems doing this?
I may be thinking wrong, but isn't there a resistor or something that you can wire in there to keep a CEL from setting?
There is and I installed one of these resistors several years ago. Don't quote me, but I think it was 430K ohm... A quick search can reveal the actual specifics.
Eventually I swapped that out for the solution from Riffraff when I had an order to place anyway.
T-wood, I commend you for your work and effort while dealing with the limited space in the van. People have removed the hot wire and capped/tapped the others off, just be sure the caps and tape are secure and try to keep them out of the valley.
Thanks for the replies gents. I guess i was kinda lazy when i posted my question. I did a search and It appears it will throw a soft code. Im ok w that. I nibbled a point on the large hot wire and capped it with a wire nut. Then i taped that. The small wires i used heat shrink and sealed the ends w epoxy. That area is so hard to access and acomplish anything. This is the second time ive replaced glow plugs on a van and that passenger side sucks. What a pita. Hoping these injectors last a long time.
Fin, glad you chimed in. How did you route your guage wires/hoses?
i was thinking of zip tying it to the harness and up near the hood. Is there a spot in the firewall to poke through behind the stereo somewhere?
