this might be a good option depending on what you carry in your van.
Underlayment (Common: 7/32 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft.; Actual: 0.196 in. x 48 in. x 96 in.)-431178 - The Home Depot
It is used as an underlayment for vinyl floors and is moisture resistant. It is fairly strong and will not break like wood paneling. If you wanted to cover it with some material, you could glue the material to it. It also bends well on curved surfaces.
I have a conversion van and they used a thinner material. i am going to be doing some remodeling on my van and will use the plywood I posted a link to. I noticed on my headliner, there is a very slight sag to it. You cant see it buy you can push up on the cloth covered plywood the builder used.
If you are going to be hauling things that might damage 1/4", then use 3/8" plywood.
