Trans and rear is in a tractor. Would say mid 60’s to early ‘70’s. It had a 4 cylinder 192 engine in it. Taking that out to use in a puller. Looking to replace with V8 with bellhousing that will bolt up. I was think mid ‘60’s to mid ‘70’s truck motor might work. Will need engine and bellhousing cause my bellhousing won’t wok
T18s were intro'd in 1966 to replace the T98. As such, they have the Ford "butterfly" rectangular tranmission to bell pattern. They were OEM in Ford pickups from '66 to '86. So a Ford OEM bell for the SBF and FE can be found fairly easily.
First things first, what is the pattern on your transmission?
Putting the V8 in this. Would like it to be carbureted so basically ford any engine from mid 50's the mid '70's will work if I find the right bellhousing to mate up to the trans. Is this correct?
Anything with that rectangle pattern and the same depth as the one you took off. Each engine series has it's own pattern, so 302-351W is one, FE is another. 351M/400, and 460 share the bell, but stick bells that will work with your trans are more of a question due to depth.
