My dad runs the Michelin XDS tires on his 450 and they are a great snow tire. You pay for the extra traction though at $400+ per tire, but they get the job done. There isn't anyone that can balance a 19.5 tire where he lives so he has to run balance beads in them. Gets a little vibration over 70mph empty, but any load on the truck and it goes away. Makes me think a good road force balance would take care of it.
Maybe. Nearest Ford dealer is 90 miles away from him. With his work schedule he's rarely able to make it there during business hours.
Ah, that'll do it then. I'm not usually one to believe the dealer is the end all be all of anything. With that said, no one could get the shimmy out of the BFG Comp 2's on my Si except the Honda dealership. Apparently their Road Force balancer was actually worth a damn... Or the tech that did them is.
Regardless, I specifically asked my Ford dealer if they had any problems balancing the 19.5's and they said, "Nope. We do them all the time with as many commercial trucks as we sell."
I grew up in NE Ohio snow belt - Madison to be exact - so I know what you mean. I just picked up my new 450 with the new HD3 and of course it snowed in SW Ohio. I think they did good. Didn’t notice any loss of traction so I’m gonna run them until I feel like they are not doing the job.

After getting my 450 a few weeks back I don't know why I didn't get one 10 years ago. Love it!!

Wow no kidding, I live in Hartsgrove, have a few friends in Madtown. I suppose I will just have to see how they do, I placed an order yesterday for my new 450. Dealer says 8-12 weeks if all goes well.
