Looking good!

I see you are using "KILMAT".....

How does the price compare to all the other sound mats out there?

I have heard of "HUSHMAT" but haven't tried any of these products yet,....

The previous owner of my truck used something that has gotten hard and brittle. I am going to remove all that crap and start over on mine.

Keep up the good work.

I have used Dynamat extreme, Killmat and Mat66 in this project so far. I think all of it is about the same except the Killmat has been the most pliable and easiest to form around curves. Price wise the Mat 66 was the cheapest at the time when I bout it 6 months ago. Now it is about the same price as the Killmat. I think all of it hardens some over time with hot/cold cycles.

Thanks for those observations.

My concern with what is in my truck right now.......... is the indication that moisture was trapped under it somehow (OR it built up over time).

The existing paint had bubbled up and there was loose rust under the sound mat. It was still sticky on the contact side.

I can tell that the PO did not treat the metal before the stuff was installed.

I plan to go more like you did when I re-work the inside of my cab. POR first, then sound mat.

Keep up the good work!

Slowly moving along. Made an improvised a/c drain duckbill out of one for another vehicle. Original one was mostly gone and I could not find a new one. Washer reservoir mounted. Dome light and door jamb switches installed.

Got the washer hose ran properly. New ignition switch wired in. Used an 1973-1977 switch and pigtail. Worked out good with the painless harness. Recovering from a bout with the Rona has slowed me down but has NOT stopped me!

As soon as you finish your truck, I'll run mine by for you to do the same restoration on it. Don't worry about my having to make a long trip. I have relatives in Alabama, so I'll stop by and see them while down there...lol

Did it mount to the 351m/400 brackets? Or did you have to modify it?

If I wasn't doing a restoration sure. I want all new stuff.

I fit in the mounts. I had to change the lower mounting bolt. The original one had different threads than what the alternator has.

Yeah! It's crazy how nicely these alternators fit the way they do. I understand wanting all new. Still think I made out good. I installed mine almost 6 years ago, no issues at all.
