Engine mount question, volare

Hey All,

I'm working on the motor mounts for my Volare equipped F-100. I'm building them out of 1-3/4 .120 wall hrew tube, same that I use for roll cages. My question is about the drivers side, below is what I have so far but I'm wondering if I should also tie that side in to the frame? I have a tendency to over build things so I don't want to get carried away. I'm running a 1990 Mustang 5.0 and will only be shooting for 300-350 HP tops, nothing crazy.

This is what I was thinking of adding, but don't want to clutter up things and way over build them;

Thanks,
Jordan

I do not think you need anything, Torque is going to be lifting that side and pushing down on the other side. Is the passenger side just welded to the boxing plate?

what last chance said... it gets crowded over there on the drivers side, think about exhaust manifolds or headers.. I think what you have is good

Exclamation My two cents

It appears to me adding the extra support would make accessing the steering box for repair or replacement very difficult if not impossible.

Not worth the grief.

Thanks! Yes it's welded only to the boxing plate which is 3/8". I thought about adding a gusset on that side also, but again, how must is reasonably needed.

Thanks for the input! That's what I was thinking. I "could" get the steering box out I think after I added that other tube but it would be a hassle. My Dad walked in and said "heck, you could drop a D8 on that and not hurt it" lol

Here is what it looks like with the engine mounted;

Thanks,
Jordan

If that boxing plate is 3/8 you don't anything on that side, If it was 1/8'' than it might crack from flexing. What you have should work fine.
