Are these renowned for having problems with the A/C unit?
This summer, I noticed the AC wasn't cooling as well as it did last year so I chalked it up to having lost its charge.
Over the last month or so (when it gets chillier at night), when I start it up in the cold mornings (38 - 40F) I notice the compressor is a bit noisier than normal AND it seems to be involved in the heater-process somehow.
If I shut OFF the heating (using the OFF button) then the compressor doesn't engage and things are a lot quieter under the hood.
My old GM used to cycle the A/C compressor when the heater was running....used to drive me nuts...why run the compressor when I'm trying to HEAT? I used to disconnect it during the winters and things were a whole lot quieter that way.
Is it possible to do the same with the compressor on my F250? I can't even see where it is under the hood....
