Hello all. I just posted recently about the ‘03 EB excursion that I bought for my wife. One owner with 80k. Red/tan 4x4 in mint condition. I searched for months to find her the “perfect “ ride. I have 2 other Excursions , one with a 7.3 and one with a 6.0. So.... she wanted a v10 and that’s exactly what we bought. My 4 year old son absolutely loves the vehicle. Well.... today in SW Pa we had a good amount of snow and wife’s am Dr appt went about 2 hours later than expected. On her way home she went off of the road and flipped it on it’s roof...... totaled!!! She was by herself and is unhurt other than seat belt pain. I am absolutely sick over the whole thing. So..... I will be searching for a replacement. Please
let me know if anyone has a line on any. I am willing to pay good $$ for the right vehicle.
Thank you. She is pretty sore and upset. So... the search is on for a replacement. If any members know of one for sale please let me know. I don’t care about distance.... the last 2 vehicles I purchased were transported to me.
you might consider paying them the small fee they will want and bring the totaled one home for spare parts, despite being "totaled" it looks like its likely drivable (not legally), and the power train lots of interior, and other stuff is worth keeping for spare parts since you have a small fleet going.
Master, I actually had a buddy of mine suggest the same thing. I’ve never had a vehicle totaled before and was wondering what the fee may be for me to buy it back from the insurance co? You are correct though there are a lot of good parts still left.
Very glad she's ok, and sad that another one bites the dust. I agree on bringing it back from the insurance company. Around here, generally they charge scrap value to buy one back. I think it probably depends on the insurance company. Certainly LOTS of great parts there as that was one NICE X!
Very glad to hear that your wife is mostly OK.
I would definitely do the insurance buyback to have that nice EB on hand to serve your EX fleet, lots of good parts there and a complete EB interior to swap over to a new one.
I had a camry totaled out 4 years ago due to hitting a deer. The insurance company said I could buy it back for $400. So I did and they deducted the $400 from the check they sent from totalling out. I fixed the broken headlight and drove it as is another 40k miles before selling it. Probably won't be the case for you but just my example.
So glad your wife is OK. I often worry about my wife when she goes out with her Acura MDX. She's a safe driver and I worry more about other drivers running in to her. I wish I could get her to drive the EX but she says it's way too big for her.
Spoke with insurance adjuster today. He is supposed to come and take a look at it tomorrow. He already said that it would be a total loss. When I inquired about the buyback cost he said it would be at the rate of local salvage yards. I called a couple of them and explained/described the vehicle. They were both close on price..... about 2k. When I relayed that information to the adjuster he just laughed and said it would be more than that? Do I have any way to argue/ dispute that cost? Ty all.
