You can always dispute it and negotiate. Its just a matter of how long you are willing to hold out and how much you want to fight it. It is in the insurance companies interest to settle as quickly as possible. Their interest does not equal your interest.

DinoB - if it's sitting in a tow yard the price to recover it is going up every day. You nor the insurance company can get the truck back without paying the tow parasites that came out to move it the tow fee plus storage by the day. It's not your truck anymore. It's being held for ransom. Then you have to pay another tow bill to have it taken where you plan to store it. Tow yard also will not let you touch any parts on the truck until they get paid and the truck pulled to another location. After 6 weeks my bill was $2,560. $1,300 recovery and $30 a day storage.

In my case the photo I posted earlier was taken by a friend who went to salvage what he could of my personal effects out of the truck two days after the accident. He got a lot of it. It was everywhere. That truck rolled twice through a solid 200 year old fence line with 6" locust posts and live trees cut at 5' height for a horse pasture. Several valuable items were gone by the time he got there. I was in the hospital ICU for four days and an intensive care floor for multiple surgeries for another three weeks. I didn't have anywhere to put it, knew I couldn't wrench anymore and I really didn't want to see it. Lot's of valuable parts on and in the truck. Didn't see the photo until 2 months after the accident. Kinda made me sick. 20 years of work, a ton of money and sweat down the drain. Home bound for 6 months after that. TN law - after 90 days the tow yard owns it. Then Covid hit. It's making someone serious money parting it out. Not me. Take what you can get and walk.

You can dispute all you want. That's why the insurance adjuster laughed - the tow bill and storage. Walk away. BTW - a Lifeflight helicopter ride is $35K....

I am very glad your wife is OK. It can always be worse. A Marine platoon medic was first on the scene by chance. Put a tourniquet on my leg and revived me with CPR. Had seat belt on but I was still partially ejected. Left arm crushed under upside down truck. First thing I remember is looking up at the sun and a clear blue sky when I came back. They cut me out.

No bright lights. Nothing. Black. I remember nothing except avoiding oncoming speeding car in the middle of the road 400 yards from my home. Give your wife a couple of hugs and Happy Holidays to you both.

Spartan,
so sorry to hear about all of your troubles. I appreciate the advise. My situation is a bit different. The tow was free with my AAA. Had it towed to a friends auto shop so there aren’t Ny storage fees. It can remain there as long as I would like. Adjuster called me today after looking at the vehicle. He said he never saw a 17 year old vehicle that clean in his life. He hit me with an $18.5k value but said that would not be the final number. He wants to have someone else evaluate it because he thinks I should get much more for it in that condition. Said probably hear back sometime next week about the “revised” number.

You are very fortunate. Take what you want for another one. Part it out, make some money and take what they give you. What I want to know - who is your insurance company? $18.5K is way above all book on the vehicle. I want your insurance company.

I didn't have the option of calling my AAA. I was gone bye-bye. That's why tow companies go and clean up after accidents. They are looking for $ one way or another. In my case they were actually pretty upset when I left it there. I couldn't recover the parts I would have liked to have without paying someone to do it. Pretty much limited to airing tires, checking oil and fluids, ordering parts I want or need and having them delivered to shop I use. Fortunately the shop is great.

Just had them put ATS V codes and some other stuff in my new / old one. It's cool. High miles but really clean. 2001 7.3 Limited. Photo is before V codes. Now exactly level F/R. Would really like to have had the rear Ranch Hand bumper, Landyot Arms and Hellwig sway bars off my old one. Long gone.

Wow that's amazing. I haven't looked in years. Last time was maybe 2012. They have doubled in used value in that time span. Knew they were going back up but that's unreal. My clean one owner 2000 was a V10. Sheez - that was just last year. 09/04/2019 - etched in my memory.

They are going the way of Toyota Landcruisers now. I have a '97 FZJ80 40th. Last year of the solid axle 'cruisers. Thing will go anywhere. My fifth and final LC. Notes left on windshield every time I take it out and people stopping at my house. Drives me nuts. It's waiting for my 14 year old son. I'm an old Dad at 62. He wants a Jeep. His friends tell him the Landcruiser is cooler. He's coming around.

I had a '69 Corvette 350/350 HP 4 bolt main T-top when I was 17. Midnight green. Sold my Pentons aka KTMs that I worked for, bought and raced to buy it. Thing would fly. And a '73 tan FJ40 that I picked up with lawn mowing money for hunting. Dad had a Jeep J10 and an a CJ5. Mom - Chrysler with the 383. Insane driveway three wide and garage. Yes - the good ole' days.

I would like to thank members on here for their condolences for the loss of our Ex. Also for the well wishes for my wife. I have received leads on a replacement of our rig through members on here.... I also greatly appreciate that. I have 3 local to me that I will be looking at in the next couple of weeks. Only one V10 though. The 2 others are of the diesel version.... not optimal but wife says she is willing to go that route if needed. Prices are really getting kind of nuts on these now. Again, thank all of you. Greatly appreciated.

I am glad to hear your wife is doing good after the accident.

I know you wanted a V10 truck but, I spotted this diesel for sale on Craigslist in Baltimore. It looks to be well cared for. https://baltimore.craigslist.org/wto...239775382.html

if you do buy yours back there are a few parts I may be interested in. Particularly the steering wheel.
Keep us updated on how the insurance company treats you on the replacement.

here is another low mileage V10. https://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto...244655966.html

Steve,
Thank you. I have a couple locally that I am going to look at soon. I already have a couple of diesel examples and would prefer the V10 for my wife. There is a member on here that lives within 30 miles of me that may be selling his. Unfortunately he hasn’t responded to any of my recent inquiries about it. I will keep you informed of the buy back/ insurance information as I know more. The number they threw at me yesterday was disgusting to say the least. Working on a resolution as I write this. Thank you again.
