The Ford trucks use ATT. For me that just means adding the truck to my ATT account. for you it will mean having two accounts, Verizon for your cell phones and ATT for the truck.
I think the ATT customers save $5 . And that is probably ATT billing rate. So it is a real small difference if you are with another carrier.
As far as use. I am hoping to have a stronger signal with the truck than I get with my phone. Friends that have had the built in Wifi have been able to download maps when we have been in remote areas riding the horses when my cell phone could not get a signal. They have also been able to send/receive text messages when my cell phone would not. I assume its just a stronger signal coming from a truck vs what cell phones can have since they are held next to your head. That gets them that little extra distance
Well at least y'all are getting yours to work, my three month trial ends Jan 8, and have yet been unable to get the modem to work. and AT&T Connect do not communicate very well.
Update:
Went to the dealer and found out that they reset to factory default. Found the WiFi network by happenstance. Re-named and found "Low Data Mode" called AT&T Connected Car and they diagnosed and updated some settings.
Finally, got everything to operate then AT&T lowered our bill and upgraded all our plans to Elite Unlimited Data.
