The link I posted earlier stated that three digit codes first started appearing in 1991, and I'm pretty sure my dad's '92 F150 with six cylinder and 5-speed also uses three digit codes.
The three digit codes were around in 1989 in the trucks with the 460 engine that had the E4OD transmission.
But as stated above we have had posters on here with the six cylinder and 5-speed with the two digit codes through 1994.
What I am trying find out is if he has the wrong PCM computer in his truck.

Also in 1991 the speed information from the VSS to the PCM Computer was electrical from the sensor to the PCM computer.
He may have a bad drive or driven gears for the VSS.
The cable going to the speedometer & speed control from the VSS could be bad and striped the gears at the tail shaft for the VSS.
With the calibration number of 1-51R-R00 your PCM (EEC Computer) should have the number "F1TF-12A650-AFA" on it./
I was able to pull out my PCM this morning right after I got off work. It does match the number above. Here is a picture.

I pulled the speedometer cable from the VSS, and spun it in a drill, and it seems the speedometer does indeed work. I actually already ordered a new speed sensor online at work last night and it should be here by Tuesday hopefully.
