I needed some bigger and more effective mirrors. The truck pulls my wife's glam camper from NE Wisconsin to the west coast each summer and my converted cargo trailer to the desert SW each winter. So the old truck sees a few miles.
The mirrors aren't the most attractive (don't care) but they work great and only coasted $65 for all four. I had the aluminum bar stock and ss bolts on hand.
Like you said, who cares if other people don't like them! As long as you and your bride are happy with them, that is all that counts. Besides, function and safety is the key and goal here, not how shiny they are.
They look a lot like the mirror setup my father made for his 1992 F-150 4.9L long bed.

The less attractive my truck is, the better. Less chance of anyone wanting to steal it or think there is anything in it worth stealing. I'm rather proud of the desert pin stripping.
Sous: hopefully you will see this? I can't private message anyone. I get this error "You have turned off private messages. You may not send private messages until you turn them on by editing your options." When I go to the options page, it's turned off for a second and then turns itself on. It does this each time I leave and return. PM works on all other sites.
Hopefully it's just that my device needs a firm tap?

exact same thing I say, and not only that I once in a while use in for work in the company I work for and I get this bad vibe that with a fresh paint job I'm either going to scratch the **** out of it or someone else will. My truck might look bad but is 100% mint mechanically

Like Adam said, there is a bit of comfort in having a great running truck, but an integrated theft deterrent system built into the exterior.
As for your PM issue, what device are you using? For example, Android phone/tablet, Windows computer, etc?
I would like to see if I can help and will check back soon.
Just some boring details:
I purchased my truck in 2015 from a newly retired guy in New Mexico. No rust, I mean zero! It had 137,000 on it and an ill engine. I got it for a grand and agreed to pull anything if he had a need. We shook hands and I have never heard from him since. The number one injector was failing. I installed new Alliant ACs and did the rest of the things in the sig. Mechanically my truck is 100 percent.
I pulled my boondock cargo trailer to Yellowknife (~200 miles south of the Arctic Circle) and back with no issues. Some of my family and friends thought I was unhindged. The trailer has about 57,000 miles on it now.
Nice, bought it of from a fellow New Mexican. That's the beauty of these old trucks, they are simple as they are reliable, I wouldn't hesitate taking my junk to Alaska shoot even to South America that's how confident I feel about this truck, might look like caca but performs flawlessly.
Just to be clear then, you are going to User CP > Edit Options > then about 1/3 down the page to the "Private Messaging" section and checking the box as I have highlighted below in red?
If that doesn't work, I would say try another browser like Brave or Google Chrome and do the same thing. If that doesn't work, let me know and I will come up with something else to try or perhaps get you in touch with someone from IB.
Sous, I searched, but never found that option. Thank you sir.
Here is a 2019 pic of the truck and my aluminum converted cargo trailer. I'm currently fabing a ranch hand knock off front bumper with some of my own improvements. It wont be finished until late spring, since I go to SW Arizona for 3 months.
