So the blendmount I used on my Chevy works on my 21 F350. Very cool!!! Who has hard wired one of these into a power supply and what wires/colors did you use in what's up there in the overhead panel?
What trim level is the truck? If it has all the fancy camera stuff in front of the mirror, you can pick up power and ground there. Keeps your wire run down to about 4 inches...
From another forum, guys are using the below adapter to provide power for dash cams so should work for radar detector as well, it just splits off and provides a USB connector from the mirror. I have one on order but haven't got it yet.
That is how i got power in my previous vehicle (F150), same set up, removed trim above the mirror and use 20ga posi taps on the two leads behind the trim that power the mirror, convenient and easy. then just pop the trim back on.
Alright good info here. I just bought one of the pin tap pig tails from Amazon. Seems the cleanest way to do this without messing with the factory wiring. These should plug into the back side of the connector without damaging any wire insulation. I'll take some pics and update on my install. From my research there should be a solid yellow/+ and a black/- leads in the harness under the cover to the powered mirror.
Ordered Mirror Tap off amazon. Under that top cover there is a white plug and a black plug. Unplug the white plug. Orient it so that the black wire is on the left and the black wire with purple stripe is on the right. Your ground is going to be the black on the left. Your hit wire (when engine is on) is going to be the solid yellow, which is the third from the left. Wires should look like this:
Left to right
Black
Yellow/Gray
Yellow
Blue
Blank hold
Black/Purple
Mine has been using the Mirror Tap for years now. Took it out last night and took a picture of it to install in my 2021. Great little product that mirror tap has.

So I got my windows tinted today. While they removed the rear view mirror I had a chance to remove the cap cover and expose the wiring pig trail. No yellows in this bunch.
