Couple questions to the OP if you please.

One, you didn't mention fuel filters in your rundown of regular maintenance. Was this also on your maintenance schedule? And also, what fuel do you regularly use?

Second, you said you Hot Shotted with this truck. 5k in the bed and another 10k in tow. I have to ask- how in the world did you manage to eek a profit with this rig considering the amount of fuel it was probably consuming? That's an honest question BTW. I'm not trying to be a smart ***.

Definitely replaced the fuel filter every year. That is just cheap insurance. I also ran Lucus fuel treatment through about once a month. As far as the type of fuel I would run, the least expensive I found. I have been asked many times how I made any money with this truck doing Hot Shot and I will tell you that I ran almost exclusively long haul runs. That makes it easy to make money, and lots of it. I averaged about $145k every year and when fuel prices went on the rise I added a surcharge to offset. The truck with 5k on it averaged about 12-18 MPG. The higher and colder the altitude the better the fuel mileage. I actually got 26 MPG out of it it with 4K on the bed but it was VERY cold. These motors do very well on fuel in a pickup but not so great in an RV. I presume this is because of gear ratios, wind drag, weight, etc. of an RV.

After adding everything up I spent 1175 on parts to rebuild this motor and another 250 on chemicals and misc. stuff. Grand total is 1425. I am adding a few more pictures of the motor after the build.

Rudy's BBQ, not too bad....certainly better than the salt lick, maybe even the county line.
Engine looks good too.

Sweet pictures. Are those oversized exhaust manifold studs? What did you use there?

Those were actually one of the upgrades I did to the motor. They are stainless steal studs, washers, and bolts. I bought them from eBay. I have provided a link to them.

I also replaced the Y pipe bolts with stainless as well. Here is the link

I have tried to upload a video of the startup but it just is not happening for me. I will figure that out at some point.

I have been trying to figure out why I can't upload my video if the startup. Rudy's is pretty good but there are plenty that are better.

I just picked up my parts from the shop since they were telling me that it would be another month before they could even do anything with them. I have cleaned everything at this point but am debating not replacing the rockers and lifters since there are no visible signs of wear or damage. My thinking is that since I am not replacing the cams because they are not worn and spec out, why replace the lifters and rockers? Any thoughts on this subject would be very appreciated.
I'd replace everything normally replaced in any rebuild regardless of wear. That way you have a better chance of this build lasting just as long.
the crosshatch in the bore was surprising to say the least.
How was the ridge at the top of the cylinders?

I did end up replacing the obvious components like bearings, rings, and gaskets, but also all the lifters, rockers, rocker retainers, water pump, oil pump, timing set with rails and tensioner, the fitting for the heater core line behind the water pump. I also installed Calvan inserts into all the plug holes to prevent blow outs in the future. I had to replace 1 fuel injector and I chose to replace the oil filter adapter. Since I had everything apart and the original radiator was leaking, I replaced it along with the upper and lower radiator hoses. Last I did replace the transmission cooling lines since the originals twisted pretty badly pulling it apart. All-in-all, was not bad to rebuild. As far as a ring ridge goes, I did not have one at all. In fact with all my measurements I did not find any that were more than .0001 off of factory. I did not have to machine anything at all. It was insane to see how well this motor was wearing. I have no doubt I will be able to get another 400k out of this motor, possibly more.
