I currently have an Autel MaxiLink ML629 that I've been happy with but with the purchase of a new '21 truck I'm thinking that FORscan is the way to go. Bought the OBDLink EX off Amazon for it the other day.
I just picked up a 2006 with the 5.4 but have been driving a 2013 with a 5.0. for several years. I bought the Elm327 Forscan adaptor over the summer knowing you could not do much on the "13" but was wondering if you can change much on the "06" FX-4 truck with the 5.4? I know this is the way to go but I have not sat down to learn the ropes as of yet. I picked this truck up cheap a few days ago mostly because I had not seen the 4 door setup with the 6.5 bed. I always see them with them with the 5.5 and never in the Styleside setup. I haul bikes so I have always driven the extended cab trucks to get the 6.5 bed. I was able to get the forscan cable for around 25 bucks. I also use the OBD fusion /wifi app on a old smart phone, great setup and the app was 9.99. Thanks in advance.

I bought a code reader on good sale at Advance Auto Parts just "to have" as it reads the codes and tells me what it means too. I have a Scan Gage II also but it will just read the code by number. I have a Super Chips 1865 Programmer that will read codes, I never use it for that though.

All Flareside '04-'09s are 6.5 foot beds, no matter which cab. i see the 6.5 foot Stylesides in full 4dr CC guise all over the place too (as well as the 5.5 foot ones).
