High beam, slight up hill grade at the stop sign.

Cut-off at maybe 50 feet.
@Dan V is this the bulb you bought? https://www.morimotohid.com/morimoto...lbs?quantity=1

I'm shocked at how well the cut off is. Any flashing from on coming traffic?

These.

Morimoto Bi-LED

As I was texted Leonard yesterday. Once you get these installed, the aiming process that I used was a little tedious....but I have only been flashed 1 or 2 times since the install. Given the height to the centerline of our truck headlights, the correct drop @25 feet is 3". I spent a fair amount of time with a laser level to get that right.

It took me awhile to find it but here's what I did with LED sealed beam units.

Do the aiming adjustments still work? Not a bad looking beam pattern.

Actually, we took the conversation offline in order to keep within the guidelines of the FTE... I do not drive my truck much at night, very rarely really. So, the cost vs benefit needs to be there. I do like how they look in the daytime as well though, so there is that.

Considering my options.

I missed this thread because I was in timeout.

Housing upgrade, decent bulb and harness/relay upgrade is the most 'bang for the buck' IMHO.

I have done almost all of the upgrades (on different vehicles).
I have high output bulbs, Relay conversions, Headlight housing conversions, LED conversion bulbs, Morimoto HID retrofits, overpowered HID bulbs, 55w ballasts, weird superbright european HID bulb retrofits.
So much about light comes down to the reflector, so it is very subjective.

Rye, If I was you I would do the replacement path you have started upon, You will be very happy with it.

You mentioned you drive late.... some supplemental lighting will be very benifecial. If you can drive on high beams for a reasonable amount of time you will enjoy some aftermarket lighting. Have fun!

Affordable and reasonable effort options are very limited for these trucks IMO. I chose the relay harness, 100w hella bulbs, 2004 housings. They work well for the cost and effort involved. I augmented high beam by adding another relay turning on a 32" ebay chinesium light bar. This combo has been great for years now.

I may have to try the upgraded wiring harness and over-wattage bulbs at some point. The euro H4 Cibie housings I installed a few years ago have a very sharp beam pattern almost like a Xenon projector but stock wattage bulbs with the stock wiring is a little underwhelming. Good enough to be safe but not "wow"

Here is an interesting comparison using the same lamp:

Thanks guys, I’ll see how they do. This budget truck has been anything but budget, lol. Luckily I got her for $8500 which around here is a steal and I knew I’d have to throw some money at her and I thoroughly enjoy wrenching and learning (I don’t know Ford). Ram Diesel guy since 04.
I also like the idea of a cheap light bar if this isn’t enough, for back roads only of course when no ones around.

I still have a pretty decent short list of things I should replace over the next few months, or year. It’s starting to add up. At least with the up pipes I replaced, steering/front end components, ICP sensor, parking brake assembly, she runs great and is far more driveable than when I picked her up.

That said she’s still a much cooler truck than any of the newer stuff!

Have a great week gents.
