I saw that! I always look for the stick of dynamite.
There is a picture of a real one in the vintage picture thread. I tried to search but that's a vast thread and you have to go one by one. So, I did a generic search instead. An ice cream cone sounds good, even this time of year.
In the year 1 BC (before covid) I played a backyard party as a fill in guitarist for a friend’s band. We were told an ice cream truck would come by, the guy showed up in a 52 Chevy ice cream truck restored to perfection. It had an original straight 6 and 3 on the tree. The driver said his boss had a few restored trucks but the 52 was his pride and joy.
I actually never noticed it until you brought it up but makes sense the top of the moldings and badges leading edges would be on top.. not sure when that picture would have been taken, obviously some time in the 70's or later so someone wasn't up on the details of the restoration..
I once mentioned to someone showing their “Bonus Built” at a local car show that their trims were upside down and the reply was “that’s the way they have always been “! Uh ok !
I'll probably be looking for that detail all the time now, I'm still not up on the differences between the F-1 years being more fixated on 56's and I don't know all the ins and outs on them either not being a true stocker..
I do well on 48-52 but pretty dumb on 53-72, decent on 73-87 (only because I've worked on my own rigs during those two generations) and dumb from there-on.
Until you disassemble one of these down to the ground and start over, it's easy to miss a bunch of details. BUT you're willing to learn - that counts for a lot!!
