Hello. I just joined this forum, and I'm looking forward to hearing about other people's experiences with this van. This one has some kind of wiring issue, where there are 5 rounds of 5 warning tones while I'm driving, and it seems to happen at random. The horn was disconnected, so I hooked it back up, and now the alarm goes off when I open the door, even when it's unlocked. The P.O. apparently disconnected the horn to avoid this, but I consider the horn to be basic safety equipment when driving in the city. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Are you unlocking the door with the key fob or just the key? Some vehicles will set off the alarm if the door is unlocked and opened without using the fob. Does it go away once you start the vehicle? The trick I use to bypass it is to lock the doors with the door lock switch (doors closed) then open the door and manually lock it.

Reason: Added a possible bypass
Thanks for the response. I bought the van used, and it didn't come with the key fob.The series of five sets of five beeps goes off seemingly at random when I'm driving. I saw somewhere that it might be a backup warning for when the check airbag light is out? I'm not proficient at diagnosing wiring issues. Thinking I may have to take it to a Ford dealer.
For some reason I get the vive PO might have installed an aftermarket alram system that included the horn honk feature. I'd find a local car stereo store and have them take a quick look to check for such an added-on device
Did the '93's come with RKE and alarm? My '03 has Factory RKE and the correct key fobs but to my knowledge there's no alram feature. Reading through my Owner's Manual it details the RKE operation and mentions a panic alarm which allows the fob holder to sound the horn by pushing one of the fob's buttons, possibly used to scare someone away if they're too close to the van.
The sequence described just smacks of an after market alarm system.
