I just discovered the cruise control has an intelligent feature and you can even input the tolerance of up to 20 mph.
That's great, I don't like it when I'm down a steep hill going at precisely 75 mph with the truck repeatedly braking then going up the hill at precisely 75 mph with the engine revving and gears going back and forth to keep up with the speed.
When I am driving, I go 65 up hills and 85 down hills, I save more gas that way.
Interesting, I hadn't heard of this feature so I took a look at the owners guide. I'm not sure the tolerance means what do you think it does…
To me, this implies the tolerance is a limitation on what the system can be set to, not how it responds to an individual set speed. It's not very clear though, do you have information to suggest otherwise?
My friend's Audi has "efficiency" feature in his cruise control and the speed limit was set "with tolerance" on the computer. The cruise control varied by around 6 mph, it slowed down going up hills and it seemed to be based on the most efficient speed. That was why I got excited when I read that Ford had a "tolerance" setting. Reading about it further, I don't think this is the "tolerance" I was seeking. Oh, well. At least it can still drive itself on flat surfaces, that's what matters the most to me.
I have to admit, the lane centering feature has me excited. It might give me the option to get back into a pickup if it's capable of doing what Tesla's Autopilot does for me today. My car is great and all, but a midsize sedan was far from my first choice. I miss the flexibility of something more capable.

I think the CoPilot 360 Assist already does lane centering but it probably monitors your eyes, if you look away, it'll annoy you with alerts. The new CoPilot 360 Active is being put in 2021 F-150 and Mustang, it shows on the list as "prep," I'm assuming it's either because regulators haven't greenlighted it or Ford wants to test more on it. I went from luxury German sedans to pick-up trucks and can never go back. I love the feel, I love the versatility, I just can't, it's physically and mentally impossible.
