2021 beds, same as last generations ??

So I have a 2015 F150, supercab, 6 1/2’ bed. I have a cap on it. Leer. I’m looking to order a 2021 150, same configuration as my present one.

I began thinking that if the beds are the same, I’d consider having my cap repainted to match the new truck. My cap costs over 2000 bucks, the dealer doesn’t give anymore trade in with a cap, in fact they pull it off and get rid of it.

Does any have any info if the new beds are the same as the 2015 to 2020 beds. I’m sure I could get my cap painted for less than the cost of a new one. It’s Fords ruby red, I’ll probably stay with red again but it’s a slightly different red. Tks.

Here is my suggestion, it's what I would most likely do.
If they won't give you anything for the cap on your trade....then keep the cap.

This gives you two options:
1. When you get your new truck, do a test fit to see how you like it and how it fits. If you like it, then go get it painted.
2. If it doesn't fit or look right on your new truck, sell it on FB Marketplace, Ebay, Craigslist, etc..

.

Here are the dimensions for your current truck bed.
Maybe you can find the dimensions of the 2021 online to compare.

Visually, the beds look the same except for minor design changes in the outer bedside stamping. The cab is the same, so there shouldn't be a problem with that lining up. The tailgate may have a different profile, but the after market truck cap makes seem to have quit trying to follow the tailgate profile with the current generation. Check with the company that made yours and see what they say.

I can imagine you might have to change the back door to fit the tailgate.

Sometimes the tailgates are just a different molded piece riveted to the door on the topper. Pretty easy to swap out.
