2010 F250 5.4l 4wd. New to ford 4wd. Issue won’t disengage from 4wd unless I jack the front wheel up and then it unbinds the transfer and then it’s unlocked. The transfer shifter motor engages in both directions, confirmed this by listening to it and also removing it and operating 4wd switch so on the surface it seems electrically it is ok. Any suggestions. Also drained fluid from transfer and refilled. It was nice and clean.
I will try that thank you. I checked for vaccum leaks at the hubs. Passenger side held vaccum, drivers did not. I think this is causing it to be stuck in 4wd. Any thoughts.

The transfer case should shift without vacuum. Another thing to try would be to roll backward a bit and see if the TC will shift out of 4H then.
But a vacuum leak will cause issues with your auto hubs not shifting properly.

correct the transfer works off of the electric shift motor. From what I’ve read vaccum is applied when it is in 2wd and is shut off when 4wd is applied which is what happens since I verified it. I’m going to replace the vaccum hub seal tomorrow and will report back. Thanks for the help!
The transfer case is the " important " part, do you know if its stuck in high?
The front hub seals always go, causing the " auto" feature on the hubs not to work. If the hubs are in the " locked" position the truck will feel like it is in 4 wheel drive- when its not. It just has the added resistance of the front end being locked. The auto ( vacuum ) is just for added convenience so that you don't have to just out and " lock" the hubs.
I would verify that the T case is in fact moving back and fourth in its ranges. I would also check the front hubs and verify there are unlocked.
unsure if it still exists but my 150 had 2 vacuum switches on the firewall on the passenger side, mine wouldn't engage but after I removed and reinstalled the vac lines it worked, cant say for how long I got rid of that thing
