Hey guys,
Need some help please. I have an 03 Ford F550 work truck with 6.0. Has 211,000. I replaced all the injectors on pass side about 3 years ago. I had my guy follow me about 12 miles to a job. He was driving the truck and it ran just fine. When we were at the job it was left sitting for about 3 hours and I went to move the truck. It started fine but had a miss. It didnt have much power but only moved it about 100 yards. Just thought it was cold and didnt think much of it. Live in South NJ so it was in the upper 40's then. About an hour and a half later went to leave. We left but again no power and seemed to have a miss. Went home but my guy said it took literally a minute to get up to speed. I was behind him and saw no smoke coming out of exhaust. Very rarely maybe a very small burst of dark smoke, very small and fast and only saw it maybe 2 or 3 times in 12 miles. Latest history. Oil change less than 1000 miles ago. Replaced both fuel filters. I did a buzz test and it passed and I heard all 8 injectors. FICM volts tested at 48.5. I did a contribution test and it did come back low contribution on cylinder 3. So does this mean injector. I did replace that whole side 3 years ago with aftermarket remans. I started it today and it literally has no power. I was gonna take it for a run around the block. But I got out of the driveway and realized not a good idea. I barely made it back up my driveway. Thats how bad the lack of power is. Not sure whether to just go to replacing injector 3 or what to do from here. I am mechanically inclined but not sure what other tests to perform at this point. Any advice appreciated. Oh and used Forscan for the tests. I do have Edge Tuner in it but never use it. Only for codes and there were no codes besides the normal EGR delete code because it has been bulletproofed by previous owner by a dealer and I confirmed it. When I got home yesterday from work it had the code for low contribution for cylinder 3 on the tuner but did not show it today when I started it.
Oh and by the way, your question reminded me that I replaced the fuel pump on it with an OEM replacement about 2 yrs ago. I cannot remember the reason right now but I definitely did replace it with dealer pump.
And as soon as this problem occurred I immediately changed both filters. But still the same problem.
Only thing I have that I used is Forscan. Its the free version but I dont mind paying the few bucks for full version if its capable of getting the DTC's which I believe it is. Could this be an ICP sensor? Im guessing not but from what I have read and watched, the low contribution on cyl 3 and the no power could be a fuel pressure issue that may have caused and injector to go? I think I could rent a fuel pressure gage locally but I believe I need a special fitting to tap into the service port correct? I doubt that will be easy to find.
Forscan Lite will read all dtc's your truck throws. And yes you will need the adapter, but I believe it is in the rental kit. If not Napa, I believe carries them.
Sorry for the delay, but at this point I need some help. I opted to just have someone do the work on my truck and now I have a truck that is not useable. I am going to list the scenario below and see if anyone can tell me what they think could be causing the leak.
I brought my 2003 Ford F550 with the powerstroke 6.0 to a guy I know for a no power issue. Issue started out we were driving it one day and at a job we started it and it did not seem to have much power. Then when we went to leave it got real bad. To the point where it ran, but just did not want to accelerate and took forever to get up to speed. Got it home. Next day started but I could literally floor the pedal and it would barely move. So I brought to this guy and he said it was the HPOP. Replaced it and the first time starting it I was there and he started it up and it seem to run great. But then after about 5 minutes of it running his guy yelled to shut it down. There was a big puddle of oil underneath the truck. So next day said he fixed it and I got the thing home. Still ran with power but seemed a bit rough. But then found it leaking again. So anyway, I found the leak. If you look at the front of the engine from the left side. To the right of the Alternator, at the top of engine there is a pulley towards the middle. Right behind that it is spewing oil out, at a pretty good rate. And it you rev the rpm's up it actually blows out. What could be causing this leak. Was it not sealed correctly? Could something be cracked? This problem did not exist when I brought it to him. Obviously I have never done a job like this but I am more than willing to tackle this with some guidance. I am pretty mechanically inclined, have watched some vids and know I could do this job. But I just need to know what I should be looking for. I am still looking for a full replacement video of the HPOP that is dedicated specifically to the 03 model because I know its different from the other years. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
See if you can take some pics. That would give us an idea of what your looking at. I have a few guesses but there just guesses. Did he take out oil cooler when he did hpop, to clean and check screen? Could also be oil temp sensor blew out. Like I said, some pics would really help.

That was fast. Thanks for the reply so fast. Yes, he said he put new oil cooler in and HPOP. Also said he check the IPR screen while in there and then put everything back together. So it is at his shop so probably will have to get some pics over the weekend. So I will post them then so you can get a good look.
