I’m gonna go the opposite way. I hate the tailgate step. Ordered mine without it. I installed a amp research corner bumper step on the driver side only. Works even with a gooseneck/5th wheel hooked up.
it’s also amazing how much lighter the tailgate is without the step inside.
My 2020 F-350 XLT with the XLT Premium package has the front center fold down seat, not a console. There are cup holders behind the console for rear passengers but no charging ports. So you need to look into this carefully.
There's nothing to "look in to". You just have to order or buy an XLT with the Cloth "40/console/40 seat" option. IIRC it was $300.

Same here, love the amp bumper step, so quick and easy, no hands needed!
I have the amp step on the corner and the step in the tailgate. I like both for different reasons but I use the one on the bumper much more just to the quickness and ease of kicking it up and down. There’s about a 6” difference in height between the 2. I picked up the corner step to make it easier when the 5th wheel is hooked up. I’m 33 and I didn’t think I’d use either one but after having them on I find myself using it more than not.

Ha...this brings a scenario to mind--- we're pulling the trailer to a camping site. The bed is full of bikes, chairs, firewood, etc. My wife says "oh....that private lake that we went to the first time we were together is right down this trail. Stop here and lets take the bicycles down there [said as her eye brows are going up and down repeatedly]. I stop the truck and sprint out to the back bed as fast as possible to drop the tailgate................and wha wha whaaaaaa (insert low blowing tuba noises).. The trailer blocks the tail gate, a.k.a. the tail gate step is unreachable :-(
I didn't even think about the tail gate and the step being blocked by a trailer. Thank you for highlighting that.

Ah...thank you for demo'ing both of those heights! That helps a lot too!
When folks talk about the amp step, is that the factor corner fold up option, or is that the different after market foldup step?
I'm over 70 and love the tailgate step. If this old codger can do it, you can. 😊 If necessary carry a small folding step stool in the truck for extra assistance. I installed an OEM tailgate assist recommended on forum.

My corner step is a ford accessory listed as an AMP corner step. Its rebranded by Ford but the design is by amp research according to what I was told. It is the same one you can add to the build of a 2021 from the factory.

If you're talking about must-have's then add the power folding mirrors! Just took delivery of mine and already wish I got them.
We are definitely trying to keep the cost down, as well as the technology, but I agree. I had a Ram SRW 1ton that had the power folding mirrors. I used them pretty much EVERY time I went into town.
I ended up ordering both the bumper and the tail gate step to cover scenarios with our trailer hooked up or not. Thanks for everybody's input!
Truck was ordered on 29 January 2021 and expected to be delivered on or around 10 June 2021 (we are suffering from using a low priority and out of allocation dealer). Heck...I think our truck will be one of the last 2021s off the line!
