bed step when ordering super duty

Good evening all. We'll be ordering a F350 gasser just after the New Years to tow a travel trailer. I have a terrible back, so need assistance getting into the beds. In the past, I've used a 5 gal bucket when I had a Ram 3500. However, I have forgot that many times.

With regards to the factory options, is there any feed back if the fold up bumber or the tail gate pull out step is better (more durable or lower)?

Thank you, in advanced! Alan

This review shows the Tailgate step with a review of it, about 8 minutes in. It's a great review of the 2021 F350.

get it, use mine all the time. The newer trucks are taller so it makes it very easy.

Stripper pole is integrated into the same location as the step so you still have a flat tailgate.

Consider it done!! I had run across a video of a company that runs 10-12 construction trucks with those. Their tail gate set up has not failed on any of their rigs. I am actually somewhat surprised. My ignorant impression of the tail gate set up was that it appeared flemsy.

Plus, I like the idea of not having another object hanging below the bumper (we are off road a fair amount).

You are definitely correct! This guy covers the features very well. That Lariat sure looks nice. I'm going to keep my Toyota Tacoma as we live in a 4wheeling mecca area; so I need to stay in the lower trim to help save $$ (XL or XLT). I need to dive deeper into some of these videos as I'm also trying to figure out if you get the center console in the XLT trim , if you get some rear charging ports and vents.

Thank you again for the video link!

F450 XLT with the center console. Vents are there in the back.

I just got my special order F350 Lariat Saturday and have used the tailgate step a few times. It is a bit higher that a 5 gallon bucket but with the stripper pole makes it a must have when getting in and out of the bed. Definitely get it, you will be glad you did.

I wouldn't order a truck without one, you never knew you needed it till you had one. I have the step on my 250 & 350 and never have climbed in the bed without using them. Bonus to it the dogs like it also.

When I'm looking at trucks on the lot/ web there are 3 things needed before looking any further...7.3 gas engine, Sirus radio & tailgate step. If those 3 things aren't there I move on to the next vehicle.

Congrats on your new rig!! Ok...cool. Your description of the height as compared to the 5 gal bucket is very helpful. I can definitely see the benefit of having that pole too. Many of times, I had something in 1 hand and was reaching over the 6inch thick bed side top with gloves and trying to do some step up/pivot/triple lindy onto the pickle bucket, onto the 6 square inches of the exposed bumper when the tail gate was down, and swinging the other leg over (with snow and ice on your feet and truck). What could possibly go wrong hehehehe

Good to know...thank you! Oh yes......I probably could count on just 1 hand that my dog wasn't tagging along with me; though he hasn't rode in the bed. That would be really fun to start training him on that while I'm out on the forest service or BLM roads.

I'll have to check that 7.3 out a little more. I'm current just tending to get the 6.2 (with 4.30 gearing). I have rented F250s with the 6.2 for crossing back and forth over the continental divide; it did well (not as good as the ram3500 diesel that I used to have; but very sufficient). Yes!! I am a sirius enjoyer too! AM and FM are not reliable on these mountain drives. Safe travels!

I have a 2020 F-350 CC with the tailgate step. I'm an older guy with a bad leg and find it's doable but a little too high. So I use a stool to get to the tailgate step. The little collapsable ones you can get at Ace or other places works well. I wouldn't get one without the tailgate step.

My 2020 F-350 XLT with the XLT Premium package has the front center fold down seat, not a console. There are cup holders behind the console for rear passengers but no charging ports. So you need to look into this carefully.

Another old decrepit man here 😉
While ordering my truck i believe I may have irritated the salesman while going over options.

I said I don't give a rat's behind about heated seats or rear defrost.....make SURE it has the tailgate step.
