I'm not talking about E lockers. I'm talking about 4x4.
The Ford vacuum systems are very complicated and 100% designed to fail. To repair the seals on the axle and spindle you have to pull the axle shaft out and use a special driver to push in the new seal. And they're expensive.
Our 2002 Ford Ranger was a 5 speed. My wife refused to drive it to downtown Seattle because of the traffic and hill stops. I did teach my kids how to drive in it, though, so at least a few of the new generation will know how.
Funny thing is, my wife is now refusing to drive the highly automatic Super Duty in downtown Seattle. Too big, or something.
Haha I can understand that. Hitting a red light on some of the Seattle hills in a 3/4 ton or 1 ton with a manual is always interesting especially for those that like to snuggle up to the rear!
I actually ripped the front clip off a small Chevy Napa pickup with my ‘84 F-250. Kid went into the bus lane squeezed between me and the curb right by passenger door. Was a no right turn on red so light turned green and I turned right and hooked the front fender and took the fender, hood and front grill with me. I barely even felt it lol. Was like well that’s going to be expensive. Cop was a block away, flagged him down we both got in the cop car, drove around block and cop parked right where the other guy was. He allowed us both to explain what happened, I talked first then other guy started in and about that time another truck almost took out the cop car. Cop points to the other guy, you’re at fault your not suppose to be in this lane!
Kid was all freaked out as apparently was his third accident!
And GM, RAM and Ford disagree. I guess they must believe the sky isn’t falling..Maybe the sky constantly crashes on your world, ever wonder why that is?
Maybe they should install manuals on the Escalade just to be sure...
BTW, our parties are the best because we’re not cheap.LOL...
I want to hear more about your wealth. Please, tell me all about it.
ESOF is plenty reliable. It’s the auto hubs that will eat it. And Ford gives us auto/Manual hubs, unlike a dodge that comes with no half shaft disconnect hub at all.
my two Gen 1 super duties both have vacuum leaks. When it’s winter, I kick them in locked for the season.
I’ve had exactly 1 ESOF shifter failure in a lot of years, and it was 3 bolts to replace laying on my back in the grass. Failed hubs? Who cares. When they’re failed they’re now manual just like everyone wanted.
While playing around with building an F250 on the Ford website I noticed some things.
No manual transfer cases
No locking hubs
No transmission dipstick
No manual transmission
No green paint
Aren't these core features to the pickup world? Pretty weak stuff, Ford.
Sometimes I think Ford does not appreciate their loyal customers. Pisses me off, but still ordered my 2019, special for the manual transfer and locking hubs. Was really pissed when I found no trans dipstick. Still looking for an aftermarket. Anyone know of one?

What's plugging the hole in the transmission where the dipstick used to be? It might be possible to just buy a trans dip-stick & tube for a 2017-2018 and put it in.
On the trans dipstick that is missing, I would add that back into my 2020 if I could source it.
I do miss the manual trans and manual transfer case. ESOF for my 2013 never failed but they do fail. I think they are better now vs 10 years ago though.
It is all about the process and stream lining production with the bulk of the take rate.
I am hopeful that the aftermarket will eventually make a retro fit dipstick.
I have been looking, can only find one for the F150, have to think it would work, I believe the 6r80 is the same case has the 6r100 and same cab configuration. Not sure though, anyone else have opinion about fitment?
I thought green vehicles were supposed to be a thing.
If I drove up to this parking spot in my plug-in Prius, I would laugh heartily and buy the owner a six-pack of their choice for adding humor to my day! But then, I used to own a Highland Green Ford Ranger.
