2002 Excursion Multi-function switch fried pins

Hey guys so I’m back with another issue. My low beams started being finicky a little while ago, so I checked the forms and read that if I move my steering column up and down it was my multifunction switch, sure enough it was. So I went to replace it today and I put the new one in and still no low beams came on. I now checked some wiring diagrams and checked my connectors and realized that the pins for the low beams are burnt. (Pictured below). Anyone have any easier ideas than to replace the whole connector, or any tips on how to replace it?
Thank you!

FIRST AND FORMOST - YOU MUST FIGURE OUT WHY THAT SHORTED.

If the metal connectors are fine and its just the plastic shell you can buy the appropriate pigtail. Just easily disassemble the new pigtail and insert your oem wires into the new shell. I've done this frequently when the retaining clips snap.
If the metal pins have issues you need to cut the OEM harness (I'd do 1 wire at a time)and splice the same wire from the new new pigtail.

Imo the pins burnt since they were carrying way too much current, because the circuit shorted to ground somewhere along the subsequent run to the lamp.

Inspection time, and I'd start at the lamp end. Find where the wires contacted metal. Fix might just be an inch of electric tape.

jthand55, a lot of us FTE'rs have access to wiring diagrams. If/when you get in there if you feel you could use the support of a diagram, let us know and someone will dig it up for you.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Lots of talk about if it shorted/why it shorted, but melted pins don't necessarily mean there was a short. OP, did you blow a fuse?

I'd wager that to melt the connector like that it either had a large current pull OR poor connectivity and arc'd. The Arc fault circuit breakers required in many home building codes is for just that scenario.

Yes poor contact tension causes "tickling" and high resistance which is a very common cause of this type of failure. It may or may not be the case here.
