Cowl Cover?

Does anyone use a cowl cover/screen to keep the leaves out? I woulda figured someone by now would make one but nothing shows up in my searches.

You might also use screen door material on the underside to block the louvers in the cowl.

If you get a cowl off a later model truck (87-96) Ford went away from the slots and went to small holes which keeps the leaves and debris out better than the older slotted type cowls.

Its only up to 91 trucks the cowls are plug and play. Found out the hard way trying to use a 92 cowl on my older trucks. The hood and cowl did not clear....

The best cover I have found for keeping leaves out of my cowl is a garage roof. When you are driving you really don't have much stuff getting in there. When you are parked outside under fir or pine trees it is a problem. Once I used a cardboard tube to make a narrow crevice tool to clean under the cowl. Last time I cleaned in there I used my air compressor in combination with the shop vac. I set up the vacuum pickup near the center and then used compressed air to stir up dirt and debris towards the vacuum. Seemed to work ok. But really there wasn't much in there since last time I had the cowl off as it's been garaged.

I regularly spray Fluid-Film into the cowl trough to keep corrosion at bay. If the cowl wasn't such a PITA to remove and replace I'd just take it off more often for cleaning and maintenance.
