My 2000 F150 4x4 XLT 5.4 Triton does not engage the front axle in 4H/4L , I've run the vacuum test for actuator on front axle, it seems to work, i don't see any vacuum lines near tires or actuators for the hubs, the rear axle always engages, at this point after scratching my head for 1.5 years and Ford dealership saying it's an obsolete truck i don't know what to do from here , is it in the axle? differential case? I need 4wd where i live, especially in winter, i'm lazy and don't like using chains that tear up my vehicle at 25mph, my 85' F350 diesel will do for short trips in 4wd but prefer the comfort ride of my 2000 F150
The rear axle is always engaged... Its a pretty easy system, follow the vacuum line up and look for cracks or broken lines. Then test the vacuum solenoid. Most are faulty by now and need replacement. You can also do a vacuum eliminator kit and make the front axle manual locking.
the next closest dealership from me is 176 miles further than the Omak Washington, which is 56 miles from me, otherwise the Canadian border is closed for the one north of me

Road trip to Spokane or Sandpoint, ID then? Frustrating for sure, but it sounds like the "local" dealership just doesn't want your business. There must be a small "mom & pop" shop that could help you out.
So when i went to fix my 4x4 solenoid issue i pulled up to friends place and opened gate, automatic shifter tube snapped , when i peeled off top shroud from around key it activated my anti theft system.....
codes i get from brain P0232 (fuel pump circ off) P1260 (theft detected) and anti theft light "code 12" , I clear the DTC out and they come back, i reset fuel pump switch, codes come back, engine cranks over but doesn't start, fuel pump doesn't come on etc., so now I've pulled battery while i wait for new clamps for shifter tube that i replaced ( key lock catches on new tube like it did the old one which is yet another issue) , it's a 600$ tow bill to closest dealership 66 miles away.....
I have 2 aftermarket keys and the 2 original keys, can i reset the PAT system with them or can a locksmith do this vs dealership?
pulling battery for 12 hours cleared all but one code, locksmith said to change the interrupter chip surrounding ignition key, bought one off 1999 F150 at junkyard for 5$ and truck fired up with all my keys!!!!
cool. glad it worked out for you that easy.
i don't have that kind of luck!!
I usually have the worst kind of luck myself.....so yes i was very happy after 5 plus days of searching and asking questions that i finally decided it was cheaper to call a locksmith than tow it to ford dealership, the locksmith didn't charge me a dime and only asked for a google review since he answered my question over the phone
