Sync 3 Issues -- 2018 F150

Morning all,
I just purchased a used 2018 F150 with 56K miles.
The USB hub module looks like it got coffee spilled in it and was nonfunctional, so I snagged a replacement from the dealership.
It fixed the nonfunctional USB hub, but now the USB hub randomly disconnects the devices connected to it. I had a lease of same year and had no problems on that particular truck with the random disconnects.
I've already master reset the Sync 3 unit -- but it's still being dumb.
Are the cables from the backside of the headunit known to come loose before I rip apart the dashboard to look?
Or is there something else I should be looking at?

Thanks

Have you checked the actual cable from your phone going into the USB hub?

How old is it?

brand new cable -- same cable I was using on my leased 2018 before I bought this truck.
It also happens to an 6.5 gen ipod that was working flawlessly on my previous 2018 truck.

Ahh okay.

Cables behind the head unit, which are actually connected to the APIM, which is the brain’s of the SYNC 3 system can’t just come lose because all of them actually click in place. If one was disconnected, in your case the USB, it wouldn’t work at all.

With that being said, have you checked on the Owner.Ford website for any SYNC 3 updates?

Do you know how to do that?

If you have no updates, believe it or not, you might just have a bad USB module.

Perhaps you bent one of the pins or pulled one of the wires that connects to the hub when you replaced it.

I would start there first.

Yeah I did the upgrade via USB a couple days ago.
It took a couple tries to complete too. Now that I think back -- it may have been the USB module being problematic then as well.

It is a brand new USB module -- I just bought it from the Ford dealership, cost me some $60 USD too.

Fairway Ford on Ebay as well as other dealers online have a better price.
