front wheel vs dual wheel differences
Way back in the dark ages (mid-60's) when I was younger, broker and dumber, I bought a LOT of used tires and had a LOT of flats. As I recall, I could take one dual off my old Ford truck, put it on the front wheel and limp on home. Aside from the "limping home" part, I can't remember how long I drove like that. Working now on my 59' F350 dually, I have managed to get rid of my 17" split ring wheels and now have 6 - 6 lug 17.5 rims, all of which are for the dual rear wheels. Aside from the dimples, can anyone tell me the difference between front and rear wheels? Can I put two of these wheels on the front? I have actually located 4 new 8-17.5 tires here in So Calif and your excellent advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Michelle

The 17.5” Budd 71320/79120 wheels will mount front and rear. They have what is called a “coined in/out” mounting that allows them to use a single nut on the rear duals, but they also will mount up front. Stu
