2002 Dually project.

New to me truck. 2002 dually. Been parked at a ranch for a few years. They stopped using it because the shift lever plunger broke. Gonna be needing lots of advice. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the FTE!

We love to offer advice and encouragement for projects like this and we look forward to seeing the progress you make! You probably already know this, but fresh fuel, fresh oil and check for rodent damage on the main harness and in the valley.

Looks a little rough around the edges now, but there is a highly valued diamond under there!

You have a long row to hoe there! Literally, gonna be quite the process to remove all the dirt, dust and other organic material to "unearth" the beast waiting for you! Good luck on your adventure.

Looking forward to watching this project. Looks like a southern truck so rust won't be an issue but the dust resembles my truck which came from Tx originally. You'll be digging that stuff out for a while. Think I still have an inch or 2 inside my doors

Ha! Thanks Rob. I actually DID look at those. They may just need a good washing, but I can't totally tell from the photos if it's just dirt or if they are corroded. My bet is they will need the full treatment. If the OP wants advice, I'll be glad to give it.

If he sands off the clear, then a clear coat or powder clear coat after polishing would be highly recommended.

thanks guys for the warm welcome.

I've so far bought batteries and fluids, and i guess we take it from there.

it's a southern texas truck for sure.

plenty of organic matter on it, thankfully not inside it tho. Just about a few pounds of dust.

it's missing one of the aluminum front wheels, so imma have to see about finding one, or replacing set, or driving around like mater :P

thanks boys, I will post some pics of the process of pulling it outta there.

So it's been a while, I had to sit on moving and starting repairs on this because my wife got sick. but i'm happy to say that finally it's running and i've started ordering parts.

i'm looking for a dually front wheel. if anybody knows any leads on that it'd be appreciated.

What did you do to get it running? What is it going to need to get up to speed? Hope the wife is doing better.

All it took to run was batteries, even ran on the old *** diesel. Its idling pretty good.

The wife is doing better thank god. Thanks for the thoughrs. I am gonna go all out on this truck. New turbo. Gonna redo interiors, paint it. Do some welds on the flatbed for my tools and a install a little crane.

It will take time but its gonna be my daily driver for work.

I will post progress pics as i go
