Cam Ranh Bay
There are some vets here -- maybe somebody knows. In 66 I was in Thailand and we got word from some buds at Cam Ranh that the base commander had his family with him. Didn't really think much about it at the time, but now that I'm old I started to wonder if it was true.
The source should have been good, just seems like it would have been a pretty dangerous place for families. Far as I know there weren't any family members at our place in Thailand.

I was there in '70 and never heard of such a thing---I'd damn sure NOT want any family of mine in an active combat theater as Cam Rahn. Of course the Army, Navy and Air Force all had significant operations there or close by. None the less I myself doubt families were allowed to accompany anyone stationed there.
