I saw that earlier...he lost his 1 1/2 year battle with pancreatic cancer. Most definitely a giant in the television industry...especially the game show aspect of it. I've watched Jeopardy almost as long as he's been the host. I personally will miss his presence on the show. Who ever replaces him has huge shoes to fill. RIP
A: Alex Trebek suddenly passing away after a long courageous fight with Stage 4 cancer.
Saw this sad news during a cut-in break while watching NASCAR's final race. Too many good things to say about the man but I do wish peace for his surviving family.
Always found this a bit interesting about Jeopardy and of course Alex Trebek too..........
Back in '96 I was married to a Peruvian woman who immigrated here LEGALLY and while English was her second language she thoroughly enjoyed watching and competing against me. Having never really been exposed to American TV she did very well, would get frustrated when she didn't know or gave a wrong answer. We never kept score but it was fun just watching her try to do her best.
It stuck me then and still does the format of the game is easy to enjoy. It won't be the same without Alex and I'm somewhat looking forward to who'll fill his spot. So far it might be Ken Jennings---there's talk of having Betty White host at least one episode---that'd be fun!
My dad was an inveterate watcher. One way to get the elderly to damn near stroke out, when there is a funnel cloud spotted 2 states away, and they will break in to Jeapordy! with those annoying emergency tones and get the local weather guy to opine for about 5 minutes. LOL!! Never during a commercial, natch.
Back in the nineties at Chico St we used to compete against each other while drinking Sierra Nevada Pale Ales. Good, cheap fun. Sounds like Ken Jennings will be the first temporary host, which is fitting.

I agree with Ken being the heir apparent---better him than a few others who've been suggested---George Stephanopoulos ?!?!. Ken certainly set the bar pretty high as did James Holzhaur. Alex's shoes will be tough to fill, he has such a legacy the might over shadow a new comer at first. I want to think Jeopardy fans will be accepting of the new guy though.
