M50D front seal help
I realized pretty quickly that there was some fluid all over the inside of the bell housing. I think it is coming from around the input shaft bearing cover.
I found some chunks of what looks like a gasket embedded in the gunk... does anybody know what this gasket is called and how difficult it is to replace? I would like to order one but I have no idea what it is called or where to find one.
What ever the source of the leak, it is a very slow leak however I would like to fix it while I have the trans out.
there are 2 oil seals behind the cover and both of them looked just fine.
I read the assembly instructions a little more carefully and realized that there is mention of applying a small amount of "rubber sealant" (RTV) around the cover so... thats what I did.
I put it back together tonight and I put about 2 quarts of fluid in it. I am letting it sit bell end down so that gravity can do its job and if there is still a leak, maybe some will seep out and I can take care of it before putting the trans back in.

I got them from https://ampdistributing.com/
If you find yourself in need of transmission innards check them out. I ordered the seals I needed the day before thanksgiving and got them today; not a bad turn around time considering the holiday. I paid for the expedited shipping from Texas to Pennsylvania. All in with tax it was $36. I can live with that.
I am hoping to put this all back together this weekend BUT, before I do, I have another question.
I noticed that there is some side-to-side play in the input shaft. Its not a lot but having never done this before and not being able to find “acceptable limits” for play, I’d like to get some opinions.
These short video clips show the shaft wiggle.
Problem or no problem?
For anybody that may need to know what they look like, here’s some pictures of the seal and “oil baffle” that are in the front cover.
And a bonus messed up U-joint that I found while taking everything apart. kinda gnarly. Dunno how this wasn't howling for attention.
