Long time lurker, first time posting. I purchased a 2012 F-250 6.7L Powerstroke a few months ago so we could go camping with a 5th wheel, and you probably see where this is going! One time while detaching from the 5th wheel I forgot to lower the tailgate and crunched it under the 5th wheel king pin. My question is where would you go to find a replacement tailgate? I am in South Carolina and would consider driving across state lines if it means getting a good deal.
I'm seeing listings online around $370+ for tailgates that I would have to get painted to match my truck's silver color. The online $370 tailgates come without a latch, camera, or Ford decal, though I could probably just poach the ones I have from my crushed tailgate because those items are still functional. I checked the marketplace here and didn't find a match.
370's a fair price. Price out a new one that is totally bare and you'll be happy. You could possibly luck out and find a matching one in a wrecking yard..
I did that too...found one on eBay that was same color. Worth checking out. I have a 250 and found out the 150 also fit. Mine is older so check before buying.
